GM Requested OLD / REMOVED Recall Ignition Parts

GM Requested OLD / REMOVED Recall Ignition Parts

Postby drapp » Tue May 06, 2014 12:07 am

To our surprise we received two parts requests late last week. GM wanted the parts we removed from two lock cylinder recalls.

I have only been doing this for 35 years, so I haven't seen much. I have never before had GM request removed recall parts. I have no idea why they would want them. I would certainly like to believe all the engineering has been completed by now. I hate when we have to go back and re-recall stuff. Here's hoping they simply don't trust us and really want to see if we replaced the stuff.

So consider this a warning - KEEP THE PARTS YOU ARE REMOVING FROM THESE IGNITION RECALLS - THEY MAY ASK FOR THEM BACK. The two they asked for were not our first ones. I would guess we have done 20+ prior to the request for two.

The easy anwser is.... if you don't send back all the parts for that specific car they will charge back the cost of the parts AND all the rental money that go's along with it. GM is saying, well its all on you dealers now because you KNOW the process. The get a freebee thanks to the dealer.
