CAMERO RECALL KEY NUMBER

Warning, REMOVE THE GUARD BEFORE YOU CUT THESE KEYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not taking safety equipment off a piece of leased equipment. That guard holds the key down while it's cutting; removing it can make it become a projectile....GM needs to get the right parts in the field on this quick.

I thought I saw some message a few days ago that stated Camaro keys would be ordered with the key code "space" VIN in the note field upon order entry. We don't have cutting equipment for these keys - and we are not looking to purchase at this time. No dealer within 100+ miles has one of these cutters.

Guess we will have to see what the actual bulletin says when they release the bulletin with parts information.

Have you ever seen a time where there is so much effort being put forth issuing multiple bulletins / messages that don't really say much, if anything, at all. Very frustrating on the dealer side. Can only imagine the manufacturer side.

I know every member of our parts and service staff that interfaces with customers is very exhausted trying to explain why we don't have a clue what is happening or when it will happen.

The guard is on the front of the jaw and you must remove it to cut the keys. I just wasted 3 keys for another dealers cars. Now I need to get him 3 so I can recut them. Read page 4 carefully of the bulletin, that is where it explains the cutting process.

The revised bulletin is out with both part numbers and additional changes in red.

In reading the bulletin, version A. see this note about ordering the pre-cut key (we have always included the complete VIN for pre-cut keys), but, this now says just the last six of the VIN ??

"2. Include key code (listed first) followed by the last 6 of the VIN in the notes section of the part order. Normal ordering methods should be followed. SPAC cases will not be honored for this part."

I ordered all of ours this morning, and they all cancelled, saying "future part, not available".

Ok, here is a heads up! I ordered 20 of these and received them today. There are 2 keys in each package. I now have 40 keys! That would have been nice to know........

PartsPhil when did you order those? I ordered some on Friday, but they aren't showing as shipped yet. Supposed to have been overnighted to us. I bet due to the unprecedented demand ship direct cannot keep up with the orders.

We're Buick and GMC here and only have one 2010 Camaro out on the lot. I was gonna order the recall keys but I checked VIS and it doesn't show to have any recalls of the sort. Is this true on all the Camaro's because the bulletin specifically states all 2010-2014 camaros.
