Ignition switch with no control or VIN

Ignition switch with no control or VIN

Postby GMpartsLux » Thu Jul 17, 2014 4:28 pm

Just got an ignition switch recall without our control numbers or vin on the label. Part number is 23234399 and the control number is only RECALL. Is this some sort of preshipment because I have no idea how to match it up to any we have on order. Has anyone else got any like this?

Looks like they have made too many and are trying to send them out hopeing you need them. I've got 3 of the same thing, I told our parts guys to not place any new orders until they have checked the "RECALL" ones on the shelf if the part # is correct.

Looks like if your a customer that came to the game late we might install your parts right away.

Send it back as a shipped in error. "Not a valid Dealer Control Number"

If you go under order status detail and put in facility and order number, the order detail may give you the VIN number.

This seems to be correct. Thanks GM for the extra step now required. I have nothing else to do and my time isn't valuable.

This is for vehicles with duplicate VINs used, whether at your dealership or in error at another dealer. Like mentioned in a previous post, CTRL+F and insert your order number on you daily invoices and you can find the VIN of the vehicle you are looking for.

The one I received has no VIN on my invoice or online in order status. The control number is RECALL JMC, just like the seat belt recall parts that were ordered on my behalf by GM.

I am guessing this one is for stock.

received two today with recall as cntrl and they are both for vehicles we already repaired. Now what? were the original parts defective? No new recall showing in either history. ????????

Ok, from order status I did find a vin it was associated with. The original parts were ordered April 23rd and we completed the recall May 12. I guess we can use it for someone else then.

Looks like more work. Yippee. I haven't received any yet, but I'm sure I will. If in fact they were sending for stock, which I doubt. How would we be able to tell what vehicles they go on? Is there a way that I don't know about?
