And then........

worse yet is when the F&I manager sells the junk policy to the Office manager on a used car, and 2 monthes later the car needs a intake valve and a cat converter and the warranty company declines the repair. That was a cool fight, wish I could have sold tickets and concessions.....

What if... You just bill any non GM parts to a parts invoice, and attach to the RO?

That works! We also keep some of the old handwritten ROs on hand for wrecking yard engines, etc......

Either of you two in Kalifunny? From what I understand (no facts to back it up) the Ca BAR really frowns on that move.

I quoted out two OE hubs only to have the service manager come back in and say " Joe Blow Warranty Co. wants me to buy two Auto Zone hubs for $??". I got pissed and NO, They count against my "loyalty", I don't make jack squat on them, we can't warranty them and I AINT buying them. Tell them to go get their own. He says "they can't buy their own out" and I told him "tough I AINT buying them, just tell the insurance guy to let his customer know that they bought a cheap warranty that will not put OE parts on their car and if they want the work done here it is going to get OE parts, PERIOD". And then!

I feel your frustration. I experienced the same thing and even spoke with the extended warranty rep. Told him exactly what you told yours in that we don't buy parts and sell at cost. Minimum mark-up for items is "Our cost x 1.87%" and that if he didn't like it, he could ship in his own parts and to make sure he sends everything to complete the job.

In cases like that we charge the aftermarket company a "handling charge" usually equal to the lost gross profit. Most of the time they change their tune.
