Retain all GM recall parts indefinitely!?

Retain all GM recall parts indefinitely!?

Postby possum » Fri Aug 01, 2014 9:19 pm

Have you seen this?

G_0000197535 states do not scrap any of the recent recall parts until further notice. There is a list attached to the bulletin. Seat belt sleeves, side airbag connectors, stg motors, half axle shafts, shift cables, air bag coils, ST door switches, on and on!

Just blasted an email to my rep.

Seriously, WTF? I just printed out the 5 page “Attachment A” and it’s a bunch of crap.

Inspect.

Reprogram.

Replace owner’s manual insert.

Inspect steering wheel alignment.

“Refer to bulletin”

How about a comprehensive list of any recall or field action repair that actually has parts to keep?

Do you realize the amount of time it’s going to take to differentiate what to keep indefinitely and what to scrap?

I’m sorry to vent on you but this is so out of hand it’s ridiculous.

Told my guy that does my warranty scrap to hang on to ALL recall parts about a month ago. He and my other counterguy have made fun of me since for being paranoid. Apparently, my gut was right. Can't wait to start sending all that crap back. :x

Something tells me that GM will put the storage of these parts until the lawyers wants to review them on us. I'm sure everyone has done a great job of sending these back and haven't had to debit anyone lately so now we have to hold on to them and a couple months from now it'll be harder to find the correct part to send back.

I don't have the room to store these so hopefully they'll still give us a .3 credit to help pay for an on-site storage container.

If GM wants them "retained indefinitely" they can pay me to send them back just like the ignition recall and they can "retain" them.

If GM wants me to hold all this crap, they can rent me a POD, and when it's full, they can send another, and another, ect.... I have a tiny parts department, since we built the store to GM specs, and I don't have room for all the LPO crap, nevertheless this JUNK.
