Retain all GM recall parts indefinitely!?

Yeah, I'd love to see the look on the faces of the employees at the WPC when they start opening all those boxes of seat belt anchor sleeves and they smell like rancid, old Chinese food! I'd love to store stuff over there if it didn't mean my rent were going to be doubled, actually.

The report in Dealerworld that helps "easily identify paid transactions involving Recall/Field Action parts that must be retained until further notice" is a joke. There is nothing to show part numbers or the recall performed to help quickly find what we need to find.

Go to the Library Tab, click the triangle next to parts, click the recall link and have fun :-)

Yesterday I made a printout and gave everyone a copy, taped it near the time clock and told each tech, writer and manager about it. They are instructed to give each part removed to us, tagged appropriately, and we will toss them all in to a seperate box for this purpose.

My SM likes to break my balls. Someone gave him the whimsical title of "Service and Parts Director" and anything that might cause my department some distress he takes great pleasure in. He walks in yesterday gloating over the bulletin.

"Man, you guys will be hammered with this new bulletin!" all the while he is grinning like the cheshire cat.

I nonchalantly say "not so much"

"bullshit!! that bulletin says indefinitely."

"it does, wont change how i do things, when part comes back to me, I will write RECALL on it, take it to the warranty shed and put it in the corresponding bin. If YOUR warranty administrator throws it away, its on you. and, if you don't mind can you clean out the warranty shed, all your old service equipment is in there and wont allow me to do my job?" i got to grin like a cheshire cat!!

we really dont get along as you can see.

I am not sweating it. Get some red Sharpies and store it in the shed. meh

What about the campaign parts with core charges? Anybody get an answer on how to get credit for them?

Well I've had these axles in a cage long enough. Has anybody else kept them this long before scrapping them?
