Day 4 of no DMS

Day 4 of no DMS

This is insanity. No DMS, nobody can figure it out, everybody wants to point the finger at somebody else, meanwhile we are bleeding money. Has this ever happened to any of you?

What DMS are you using? (or NOT using, at the moment)

Reynolds & Reynolds. But it isn't their fault. The server is up but it's at our sister store, it's the VPN between the 3 stores that isn't working. We have been down the longest, the other satellite store is down now but hasn't been down as long.

What a disaster! We've been down for a morning, but never any longer than that. I feel for ya, I know how hectic that makes things.

If your store is anything like ours (small, family owned) every time that happens I swear I'm not going to be the one to step up and get it fixed...why should it always be me?...everyone in the store is capable of dialing an 800 number and answering questions... But, after waiting for a while and 20 people coming to me to ask me if it's fixed (including the owner), I finally step away from everything I'm doing to call Reynolds and stand in the server room with my cell phone for an hour or two until we figure it out.

Good luck, Cmayne.

Just sneak into the store with the server and trip the main circuit breaker. That way you are sure to reset everything. (just dreaming sometimes  )

Ours did that, we had a bad router. And goodness I still have some old 3part invoices from the '80's for just such an occasion.

We have AutoSoft

After all the finger pointing, the consensus for now is that the router is too small for the traffic of three stores. Mind you this router was installed by and the responsibilty of the "IT" firm he hired to handle all of your IT issues. He has been calling Reynolds and Cox comm for the last 4 days trying to blame them.

Still down, he ordered the routers after 5 without considering they wouldn't be shipped that late, then waited around all morning for FedEx before calling and finding out we wouldn't be getting them. Looks like tomorrow assuming this fixes it, and we have a huge sale starting tomorrow but can't print contracts or sell cars. LOLOLOLOL

Back up finally this morning. I guess they worked until midnight and he had a guy from Cisco there and he told him the routers we drove to Dallas for were still too small, so they ordered bigger ones but for now we are up and almost caught up. I am only waiting for 3 more RO's to be generated and then I think we are good. God knows how much has slipped through though. :(
