"Effective immediately, the recalled ignition switch and lock cylinder part return projects identified in GM’s communication G_0000192839 and G_0000194414 have been closed. We sincerely appreciate your assistance with these projects. Please note that, although these projects have been closed, the parts presently flagged for return in the Global Warranty Management (GWM) System must still be returned to GM pursuant to the previously communicated part return guidelines.
Going forward, you will not receive notification as part of the GWM claims process that such ignition switch and lock cylinder parts must be returned. Accordingly, after the expiration of the normal 15-day dealer holding period (or 24-hour holding period for Certified Elite Dealers), and in accordance with GM Service Policy and Procedures, the ignition switch and lock cylinder parts replaced under recalls 13454, 14063, 14092, and 14113 should be properly disposed of and scrapped to remove any possibility that such parts could re-enter the stream of commerce.
This message does not alter the procedures that all dealers (including Certified Elite Dealers) are required to follow with respect to the retention of the parts specified in General Motors message G_0000197535, dated August 1, 2014. We are taking steps that may allow us in the near future to modify that parts retention requirement. We will advise all dealers of any changes to those instructions as soon as possible. Thank you for being a GM dealer and your continued cooperation with this request. "
