Reynolds to Automate

Reynolds to Automate

Postby Zep33 » Fri Aug 15, 2014 12:46 pm

Hey guys - We're switching from R&R to Automate on Monday.

Can anyone offer some tips and/or suggestions to make this transition a little easier?

thanks

Make SURE they give MORE training than what is offered. There are some short cuts to a program that has a LOT of short comings.

Last store I was at switched from R&R to Auto/Hate. No fun. They don't call them shortcuts, they call them "work-arounds". Honestly, though, most of the problems we encountered during the switch were the same kind of problems you'd have when switching from any DMS to another. It takes time to learn, but it wasn't THAT bad.

When we switched it was simple enough to learn. We still use the ole paper SOR's so we don't use all of the features (what few there are) Just remember there is a reason you are saving money. Automate is not as complete as R&R. There support is easy to reach and always get a real person on the phone. After while you will hardly ever need to call them.

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually liked the demos they gave us and don't have a problem learning something new - I'm a computer geek anyway. Just been using Reynolds for the past 20 years or so.

As long as I can still do my job, I'll be happy with it

thanks again

Monday starts a new chapter

We switched from ADP to Auto/Mate just over a year ago and I have to say that I don't mind Auto/Mate at all now. As with anything it took a few months to get used to but a lot of the daily functions are much simpler than ADP. The 2 major changes are you will have to set up most of the reports that you want to use manually in FO/Mate and no more phone call notifications when you receipt special orders if you had that function with your old DMS.

Switched to AutoMate back in 2006 from R&R. #1 problem is linking customer #s to VIN #s...you need to input the information twice.

I agree with all the above statements, you get what you pay for. We saved over $10K/month!!!
