GM up to their old tricks

How many of you non wholesale/collision dealers are considering just giving up all of your outside bodyshop business to the power dealers?

I am weighing my options now and leaning towards no body business at all. We typically do less than 25k per month in wholesale most of that being body.

"I say there are many reasons to dance on the moguls’ grave. First is the corruption exposed"
I will admit I stoled that from an Article in Rueters. That and the famous quote from Shakespear.
"They will kill the lawers first"
Do not take that as "I intend to incite violence". It will not be me, but it will happen and lets see if they can eat their money.LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing that will be interesting will be how the online retailers like GMPartsDirect will have to make adjustments for this scenario. ;)

I'm a Ford guy sitting back watching how this all shakes out. OEC is a joint venture so if you GM guys make it work we will surely be next. :?

Pretty sure if this thing works for GM... You will see many of the manufacturers follow suit. They want to sell parts. They don't care if the dealers make any money doing it. Another problem I see is that because we will probably have to sell at a lower margin, our dealer principals aren't going to except GM's program as an excuse for why our gross is lower, which means we have to pass it on to our shop/retail customers. All of us who went away from aggressive matrixes might have to revisit them..

It is my understanding that ONLY trade and list prices are effected. OUR cost will remain the same throughout any given month. Therefore, the ONLY person funding this program is the DEALER.

How are we funding?

Reduced gross

Extra expense for Collision Link - if you don't already have it.
Supposedly not required but really who are they kidding. Bump 2.0 will likely be forced through CL.

Extra expense for more man/woman time to complete estimate / explain to B/S managers.

With everything else that has happened this year - recalls - why dump this on us now? Why not wait until we are in a slower time of the year? We are now entering our most busy body time of the year and they change it now.

Will we learn to deal with it - Yes ..........AND THEY KNOW THAT.

So there will be no matching funds from GM if they lower list price to compete with Keystone?

You can rest assured there will be NO matching funds!! The basis of the seminar establishing this and other GM programs was titled "How Can We Get More in a Shorter Period of Time". They were going to title it "Screwing Customers And More" until they abbreviated it..... "SCAM".
