You can at least compare cost to the EPC list and make an informed decision and probably a lot faster than going through all the bullshit this program looks to create

I saved my inventory to a spreadsheet so we can get the prices. I can put it on each pc that way.

With ADP I will figure a price code in OSPC that calculates at 67% over cost and just go with that. Parts that still have the list will show on my screen and I will have a PRICEx field that will show the calculated list as well. The big issue with me is revamping all my body shop accounts which I've contracted a price agreement.

Technology has "shot the manufacturers" in the foot. It is now possible to find the factory price, suggested selling prices and all "other benefits" afforded the dealership ON LINE for all manufacturers except two (that I am aware of). This puts all price negotiations in the hands of the customer and takes all away from the seller or vendor. Given the propensity for "some" to use matrix pricing, it furthur "shoots them[selves]" in the foot because of the implied manipulation and distrust that ensures.

An old economist said: "the definition of a good deal is what the buyer will give and the seller will take; and all other intrepetations are useless". Well, now the buyer has the advangage and the only recourse for us (in parts) is a better degree of availability and customer service.

Had the manufacturers been a bit more open about pricing in the 70's and before this might have been avoided, but alas; it is here now and we have to deal with it.

Here is the e-mail I sent to these mooks:

William,
I listened in on your webinar on Nov. 6th with bemusement. The statement “we understand this will be disruptive to dealerships” would be amusing coming from people who purport to be our business partners if it wasn’t your current modus operandi. To say that G.M. dealerships will experience “disruption” because of this ludicrous concept of not having a suggested list price is an understatement to say the least. This is quite obviously not designed to afford any kind of advantage to the average dealer. This is designed to give General Motors a competitive edge over the aftermarket and will not in any way help a dealership that is not heavily in the wholesale business. “We understand this will be disruptive to dealerships”. Really? You are launching a program when you don’t have any real answers to the questions from people who really understand the business. “We’ll wait and see how things work as we move forward”. How is that an answer? We’ve had the SERVICE LANE PARTS program shoved down our throats which is already “disruptive” do us at the dealership level. We constantly run out of stock because General Motors cannot provide us parts in a timely manner. Then when we’re forced to procure parts from a W.D., we’re penalized for “non-loyal” purchasing. They said the same thing to us with SLP. “Let’s just wait and see how it works”. Well it doesn’t work. I challenge you to ask any G.M. parts manager with a functioning brain what he or she thinks of G.M.’s current abortion known as SERVICE LANE PARTS. I hate to have to say this but you guys sound like you’ve never been inside a dealership or a body shop. I won’t use the word I think you sound like when I hear you use the term “paradigm shift”.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Tom
Sorry to say it falls on "deaf" ears, as the only sound they hear is the money landing in their pockets. Greed is a powerful drug.
Well stated though!!
