How about if some parts are over the 120 days would you use your return reserve to send them back if they are already paid for?

If you have an excess of return reserve that you're not going to use that's better than getting 75 cents on the dollar at the end of the year.

SURE Timk but I dont have an excess amount of return reserve. I dont know about everyone else last year my store had $6k in return reserve. This year so far I have about $800 bucks.

Still unclear if these parts have been paid for? If YES, then you should NEVER use your return reserve to send them back to GM. Save that for something useful, like CSO/eligible parts. Otherwise take the $.75 on the dollar payout of the reserve dollars left at the end of February for any unused return reserve.

Create a spreadsheet with:
Name Part # Quantity Bin Location Invoice # Date Paid

Just in case they ever come back you know that you owe it to them.
I put the stuff in stock and try to resell it :o

I put a line on our invoices that says
"Not responsible for parts left over 60 days"

After that, we either return it to GM or try to resell it.

if the client paid for the part and its still sitting there, why not contact him one more time.
if you get a hold of him, ship it to him or schedule an appointment.

if you don't get a hold of him, sell it on ebay. make some money off of it.

or add it back into your inventory with an X at the end in a new source at ZERO cost.

sell it cheap in the shop and make some profit.
