How to break it to service that im not eating the 35%anymore

Postby LOWAIRD1964 » Tue Feb 17, 2015 5:33 pm

Just curious how you guys broke it to service about eating the 35% return fees. I have worked here for 7 years but just took over as manager in april. The parts manager before me never did anything when GM decided to start banging us the 35% and now I almost feel stupid to take this Bulletin to them now and say "hey now all of a sudden I want you to pay for it" So basically how would you suggest I approach them about it. Any input would be great! thanx

Just explain the situation and that it wasn't being done properly before. Explain that you will research each return to insure that they only pay the 35% on returns that re their fault. That you will eat the ones that were wrong side, wrong color, etc. That your department shouldn't have to bear the expense of returns that aren't the fault of your department. But also keep in mind and be ready to counter an argument about issues caused by the ordering of wrong parts, like who will pay the tech for doing a job twice, having to call customers back and explain it will be an extra day, etc.

Our SM was shown the formal notification from GM, and told his department will absorb the re-stocking charges from GM; by our GM. Of course, the problem was never huge, but the technicians have now become more creative with their diagnosis when the "wrong" part needs to stay on the RO!

Knife, fork, and a bottle of catsup. Bill the difference to 67D and never look back. I warned the service manager for months that his monkeys....opps, Service Advisors.... were getting out of hand ordering parts and never getting the people in. Well, Dec 1st I sent back everything and as the credits came in, 67D the 35% and 67F the freight. Now he has reined in his Writers....

SM and I have an agreement as well. All CSO returns fees go to 61D. Period!!! Use return reserve for obsoletes. The Superman Service lane that can diagnose a car over the phone an order parts can eat it all. :o Was his name Lane Diag????
