OK this recall repair takes us to a ALL TIME LOW

I personally have a tough time explaining the key recall to owners who question the logic of it all vs. new keys.

However, the fix for recall 15166 is just about - NO IT IS - the most stupid thing I have ever seen in print related to a stop sale / recall. I can't wait until I have to explain this one to a customer who actually receives a notification to return to the dealership.

What do you think? You will have to look it up on SI yourself - you'll never believe me.

Yeah, called an "emergency" shop meeting in the middle of the shop yesterday and told all the guys they'd need to jump on the Mac/Snap On/Matco truck IMMEDIATELY and buy a new tool required to perform this recall. They were all looking at me wide-eyed until I explained the special tool was a Sharpie.

It just shows how far the Federal Government intrudes into our business and lives. That decal is required by FMVSS to show the rim size, and the Koreans forgot to put it on.

WHOA! YOU CAN"T SELL THOSE CARS! THEY"RE DEFECTIVE!

I'm sure within another week or 2 we'll be getting a package from Kent Moore with a couple of sharpies and a bill for $75 each plus shipping

"Ring ring."
Customer: "Hello?"
Me: "This is Eddie at the Chevy store. Is this Miss Jones?"
Customer: "Yes, it is."
Me: "Hi. I was wondering if you could stop by our store with your new Trax when you have a few minutes? I need to write the wheel size on the label inside your driver's door with my new “Sharpie”® Ultra Fine Point Black Permanent Marker."
Customer: "Are you some kind of nut? Don't call here anymore!"

Don't worry, Zep. You can submit a net item for reimbursement. $0.00004 per RO. You'll have your money back in no time.

Wait until a detailer, or even some housewife wipes it off with any cleaner containing alcohol!
