BD Laser Max Security and Traditional Key Cutting Package

have had the Barnes one for just over a year now. very important to have extra tracer and bit on hand (learned the hard way). Only other problem we have had is that we only have the "green" jaw and a key recall for the G8 & also Impala squad cars requires the "red" jaw (which is used by Ford), to purchase would be $600. But because there is not very many of those out there we end up just having local Ford dealer cut them for us. Have not really had any problems with customer service with Barnes & our rep is fantastic. just my 2cents.

Kent Automotive also sells a laser cut machine and replacement parts. Their tracer bits are half the cost of Barnes and are compatible with the Barnes machine.We have had the laser cutter from Barnes for 5 years and we are still using the original cutting bit, don't buy in to the "can only cut 100 keys" line they give you.

We have had the BD laser for 3 years and now the warranty is up. Received a letter from them offering us a 1 year extension of the warranty for $899.00. If we do not pay it they will charge us $299.00 for updates anytime we do them. We have been fortunate not to have any issues with the machine since we purchased it, but it is older now and gets used hard. Leaning toward spending the money but it is a lot of money for 1 year. Anyone have a BD Laser in service for 3 or more years have any problems with them?
