HAVE YOU EVER SOLD AN IMA BATTERY OVER-THE-COUNTER TO AN IRF? CAN IT BE DONE?
CALLED REMAN CENTER & THEY SAID YES; HOWEVER, THEY CAN'T ORDER IT. I CALLED MY PARTS CENTER & THEY WEREN'T SURE.
RECOMMENDED I CALL MY REP (WHO IS ON VACTION THIS WEEK). I FIGURED I'D TRY HERE 1ST.

I tried getting the ok from my rep about a year ago but he wouldn't commit to saying it was okay to do. I have the feeling its a liability issue in case the independents fry themselves putting it in. Some other dealers I know just order one for shops using someone's DPTS, but now the local aftermarket guys have a battery pack they can sell and it goes for about half the $ of the Honda ones so we haven't even had someone ask for a IMA from a shop in over half a year.
Most of the time when I refused to sell a battery to a shop I ended up with their customer anyway, and if you do sell to a shop you have to watch your sell prices.

Not Honda here, but can you sell something like that to someone who is not certified to install?

FINAL REPLY FROM HONDA REP: "I finally got the official word and the answer is no, the dealer would have to perform the replacement and process the core."
