Am I crazy......

Have the letter of resignation typed up and damn near ready to hand in it this week. Maybe it's time for a career change. Not sure if this is gonna be fun anymore. I appreciate all they have done for me. Have learned a lot and been given plenty of opportunities along the way. 13 years into it and ready for something new and exciting I think......

The icing on the cake is that they are also taking our guy that floats between the 2 departments (and he's excellent on the parts side of things) and making him a full time service advisor. Which now leaves me alone to fend for myself and try to get someone hired. Not happy.......

They must feel you are capable of handling things on your own. They will not have to worry about their "cash cow" suffering through a major transition or your department needing attention while you learn a new position. I sure hope they value you as a strong employee.
I too would be crushed if they passed me over, and I had come up with a great solution to their needs. I would probably draw up my resignation too. But i also would take into account all the things they have done for me personally, as well as in business beforehand.
I too made this decision, recently in fact. I had the opprotunity to express my issues and business needs a year ago, the GM at the time said "NO" and said he had the owner's blessing to do so. In March, I took the step of changing dealerships. The owner expressed true heartbreak to me. I felt heartbroken too, however I convinced myself that I could not pass up the job I had been asked to do. (Just fact, not bragging: They replaced me with two people)
These decisions are tough, sometimes. Good luck ;)

I'm going through the same thing right now except my offer is not from another dealer but a manufacturer. I've worked here for 23 years (with a 5 year change 12 years ago) and have been treated very well but... Too short handed to take a vacation (have not taken one since 2012) Have not taken a single day off in over a year and a half and have not called in sick in 12 years. I work in a dealership full of self-centered, selfish douchebags. It's really growing tough on me to continue to deal with it and stay focused here. I have one counterperson and a driver split with sales and service to use. 3 months ago we started opening Saturdays so I'm also here every other Saturday for no extra pay. Add all this up and it's way past time to move on. My counter guy started 2 months ago and now has 2 months dealership experience. I just continue to deal with it and ask myself why multiple times a day, every day. Throw GM and Automate into the mix and I really can't explain why I'm still here at all. Why would anyone want to deal with this shit?

Good luck with whatever you decide Ironchild. Nowadays you really do need to look out for yourself because in this business, those that really care are few and far between.

I guess a lot of us are in this same place. I've been here 24 years, and so many of the things that I have done for many years have slowly been taken over by new hires. And when they don't get done right, they wonder why, yet I was not in the loop on hiring or training any of them. Impossible goals have been set, and a new dress code that puts the parts department in long sleeve shirts (btw, no ac in parts), and I have to wear long sleeves and a tie (no ac in my office either).

I get the max money on all the manufactures programs every month, and do a decent job on holding good gross, yet it's not enough. I would love to stay, but they are doing everything to push me away.

Richard- No AC in parts or your office? Didn't you guys just get a brand new building? Sorry, man. That sucks. Does the shop have AC?

Richard nailed it. They are doing everything to push me away. The owner actually came back here and said the parts department is the lowest stress job in the entire dealership. No a/c here either. We work in a building that leaks when it rains but its too expensive to fix it so use buckets. We are literally surrounded by other dealerships and have the oldest, trashiest building on this stretch of road. Rant over.

GM Rep was here today - spent an hour or so over in the service dept. He's gone now - never set foot in the parts department to even say hello, nevermind see if I had any issues

No A/C in any fixed ops or clean-up areas.
