What sources is this happening in? Once you know the sources, look to see that those sources are relieving the right accounts. Double check all the pay types to make sure they are hitting the right accounts as well.

Double check pricing on all your outside purchase invoices. I know a lot of times it's easy to bump oil by .25 to cover some loss but that really add's up quickly and if you don't have any loss you can start to build a nice overage.

Just some thoughts but I'd like to know how this works out for you.

Go to DSDA Document Search.
Look into your I account (or whatever it's setup at your store to look at previous parts tickets, not the service ones).
Click the refresh type icon next to "When was it archived" and it should drop down.
Change the dates to the last day of the month and look for your Annual Activity and Benchmark GK.

This will break down each source and it's value. There's a lot of other good information in there but if there is a big overage, it's easier to pinpoint where the issue might be at.

You should have more than just parts invoices. Try changing the date to the first day of the month and see if it's there.

These type of problems do crop up from time to time. Most try and do a financial reconciliation first, but if your problem continues you should first verify that the ON HAND count in the bin matches that in the system. If you keep these balances in order then you have an accounting problem. There are some reconciliation forms on www.partsconsulting.com in the downloads area. They are free and not copy righted. These might help you. Otherwise feel free, no cost, to contact me directly for a discussion. Mike Nicholes
