I've said it in another thread, but I wonder why they're only recalling W body cars.... C and H bodies have the same engines in them.....

Only W cars matter. The valve covers are the same numbers on C-H- and W, but the wires are different numbers

Once this recall tapers down a bit, I'll probably buy the new valve cover and do it myself anyway. I've already removed that plastic plug wire tray, and used spare retainers I've saved off of junk cars over the years.

Had to order 12590366 on separate control #'s earlier; techs have only been using that part # on all of them so far. They all referred to plant 36

I sure do hope they don't cancel all those valve covers on order ,because I like you are getting gaskets ,but no covers.

Oh it gets better. I got 12 valve covers in today. Only 10 belong to me.

This is getting funnier and funnier by the day.

We got 18 covers today and no gaskets, yesterday got 15 gaskets (3 were not ours) and no covers.

The Bulletin explicitly asks dealers NOT to order these parts for shelf stock. I was a good soldier and followed orders. How stupid of me, you'd think after 40 years of doing this I would know better. I made copies of the bulletin with the parts line highlighted and gave it to our service writers. We're just ordering them as needed.
