Key cutting question

Key cutting question

Do you all charge separate for key cutting? I have always built it into the price of the key. If you separate them, how much do you charge for a key cut? We are a GM dealer, I realize different makes would have different prices.

Not for cutting the key but we charge for looking up the key code.
We just started charging $100 + tax for laser cut keys (Key & Code together)

We try to charge $10.00 whenever possible for laser (more like routered) keys. Daggone lease is like $220 per month!
No upcharge on regular side-cuts.
Of course a fee for key codes if required.

We charge $75.00 for cutting a key from a code. Unless the "customer" is an idiot then we don't do it at all.

I have a question. If a customer comes in with a key he bought on the internet, would you cut it for him? We had a man come in last week that in the past has had work done here. He had an aftermarket key and wanted me to drop what I was doing and cut it for him. I refused, he went to the owner and we cut the key for him. Owner says he is a customer because he has had work done here. I say if you go to a steakhouse and give the waitress a cheap steak and ask them to cook it for you, they would throw you out.
