GMSO Report

Postby nbeckhart23 » Tue Apr 19, 2016 4:40 pm

I have a question if anyone can help me. On GMSO in CDK/ADP what exactly is Report Required Stocking Guide. What is the purpose for this report and why would you run it. Called CDK and they said no one has ever asked them this before any help would be very appreciated.

This was a new one on me too. A search gave me this:

I ran it onscreen and got this:

Looks like it just verifies the last RIM order downloaded from GM without problems?

Read the DFOAB issue 5401 and you will see why you should look at this report every morning. When CDK ignores RIM and deletes the number from your RIM order in CDK and your people checking in your order do not catch it RIM will just keep ordering it every night because you still show 0 on hand. CDK and RIM just point fingers and we are stuck in the middle. I have this report run every morning to see if there are any differences between RIM suggested order and the CDK order in RA..........

That's a good point, Chuck. We occasionally have stray part #'s that do not transfer across for whatever reason. The part gets brought to me because it won't scan. That's the only way I know.
I'll have to start running this. Thanks guys. I learned something new today.

Look at your stock order and figure out what part is being re-ordered.

It should be one that is superseded in your DMS but not on the stock order.

Post it manually but the hard part is if it goes to backorder. This happened quite often with the cruze water pumps. When GM replaces a part number and then says holy crap we have 10,000 of the old number and RIM starts sending the old number is when the problems start. CDK says naaaah this part is in memo status and just deletes it off the order. So your packing slip says 100 line but your order in CDK only has 99 line so the part never gets posted and you can guess what RIM does that night......... Yup lets order it again and on and on till you catch it. I found this report is the only sure way to catch it.

Gentlemen,
Also watch your part# changes.
GM and RIM can't get their s**t together.
GM will change a number on your packing slip and in Global Connect.
It is usually several days before the #change shows in RIM.
If you do a part# change in ADP (or probably any DMS), before it is changed in RIM, the same thing will happen to you.

Thanks,
RLWOLF

Here's what I do:
When I get a # change on my RIM answerback, I immediately go to the RIM website, exclude the old #, add the replacing # and set the dealer proposed qty at 1. That "forces" the # change in RIM right then. RIM adjusts the new # to the qty of the old #.
This is how my predecessor (who got out of the car business, lucky devil  ) showed me to do it several years ago. Seems to work well.
