over-aged inventory (GM parts)

good afternoon all! my boss came into my office this morning and told me that I need to help our sister store get rid of some over aged inventory. being that I
am a mazda parts manager I don't really have any info as to where to start. I have been lurking in these forums for awhile now and have got some really good info for helping our ford store but GM I am clueless.

I had our parts manager at our chevy store fax me the list and details. I have 16k in non returnable parts. 24k in returnable over aged.

any help will be appreciated.

There are a few places to go.
1. If you pay for OEC you can out discounted lists on D2D link.

2. You can also send your list to Parts Broker Direct (which is another OEC product). People tend to cherry pick these lists but it is a good place to start as you don't pay for anything until it sells.

3. There are a bunch of wholesale dealers that buy old inventory. You may have some one in your area, if not you can usually ship them into dealers who are farther away.

I would check to make sure there aren't any RIM returns that need to be approved.

I just reread your post. Keep in mind that RIM doesn't even begin the return process till 15 months, so your idea of overaged and theirs might be different. You need to find out what percentage of the overaged stock is RIM protected.
I would also submit all part numbers that are not RIM protected on a CSO return and see what sticks. You will incur a 35% charge, but what the heck, that is cheaper than any other way you are going to find.
