Toyota guys - Core question...

Just wondering if you Toyota guys have been running into a rash of rejected cores?

I've been seeing way to many over the last few months. Almost makes me wonder if someone is getting a bonus for the amount of cores rejected.

Way too many alternators, starters and calipers are being rejected with the damaged/broken reasoning.

Seems I can NEVER get credit on clutch cores; they are always rejected. TMS will reject any core that is not an OE part or a Toyota Reman part. If you have an already-remanufactured alternator (not by Toyota,) they will reject it. We've been pretty lucky, except for a small few.

Thanks - talking to our sister store earlier and they've had about $1000 in rejected cores over the last few months - that's crazy.

That's very high! Where are they located? I wonder if the distribution is part of TMS or private. Still... I don't think we generate $1000 in cores a month let alone have $1000 rejected. We are a medium-sized store between NYC and Phila. Maybe they had a transmission or hybrid battery core rejected?

Nope - lots of $60 alternators I think - over the course of 3-4 months

We and they are in Massachusetts. I had 2 $60 alternators rejected last week as "damaged/broken" and yesterday a $30 alternator they claimed was not genuine or no longer eligible for core.

She also told me they are not returning most of them to her even though she checks the box to return all rejected cores

we have had numerous unexplained reasons for core rejectisons. my favorite rejection reason was a $200 p/s rack core that was "rusty"

TMS needs to pick it up and just give us credit when they get a core back - even if it is not a genuine Toyota core going back to them - their cost of their business - why should we pay?
