Radio/clusters -- .3 tenths for warranty WPC returns etc

Radio/clusters -- .3 tenths for warranty WPC returns etc

Postby LOWAIRD1964 » Thu Aug 25, 2016 12:23 pm

I searched forum but couldn't find this covered. My accounting dept I believe is applying these to the wrong accounts.
Where do you guys apply the $25 handling fee we get for radios/clusters/on star exchanges ?

Also where are you applying the .3 tenths we get for every WPC return ? my accounting lady was saying to apply it to warranty cost of sale?

Just curious if this is correct or should it be going to profit/687 or what? Please help, thanks!

Thanks for fast reply Tim. So warranty cost of sale would not be correct? What does that even mean?
How do you bill the handling out on ticket? Old parts manager here always had us just sell "handling" on ticket with a $25 cost and $25 list. Any thoughts on correct way to bill out and why he would have us do it this way? Thanks

there's 0 cost involved in that. It's what GM is paying you to handle it. The least they can do since you don't get to bill a part out.

That's all profit for your department - all $25 LOL

Don't forget the .2 Admin Allowance along with the $25.00 for ALL ESC exchange items - radios, clusters, Onstar, etc.

Parts not only gets the $25.00 but should also get the .2 administrative allowance for these items. This .2 is NOT shown in the labor time guide. It will pay - without authorization - if added to the claim in the admin field. I know this because I do it.

The WPC return money goes to the department that prepares the return. If parts does that - then it goes to parts. We adjust the claim sales to show an amount equal to .3 hour as additional parts sale on that warranty claim with zero cost. It could be put anywhere you like as long as it goes to parts. NOT 905... :o but don't get me started on that account :D

Sounds like your controller should handle the WPC parts returns.
