OIL INVENTORY

Postby LOWAIRD1964 » Fri Dec 09, 2016 10:11 pm

Maybe stupid question here. I am trying to reconcile our oil inventory. What cost amount do you guys use for part #19293000. I have been using $3.02 but the oil program we are on I pay $11.84 a gallon so if I divide that up into qts its $2.96. Trying to figure out if maybe im using the wrong cost in my calculations and that's throwing everything off?

system sells it and I receipt it @ $3.02 but I really only pay $2.96

19293000 is the quart bottle part number For Dexos 5-30. Based on the cost you mentioned you're on option 1 and should be using 88865638 at 2.96 per qt. Do you have the latest copy of the Bulk oil price sheets?

You should bill out and receive to inventory the same number that GM invoices you for, dividing the gallon cost by 4. this will keep your sales loyalty in line with purchases too.

Somewhere I heard you need to put a "b" for bulk at the end of the part # for gm to recognize it for loyalty
Can anyone tell me if this is true?

Like possum said, you should be billing the number that comes through on your invoices from GM and dividing your cost by 4 (or whatever unit you use when billing oil) to be recognized for loyalty.

Ok, so what would be the best way for me to take part #19293000 and change it to the part number that GM is invoicing me for (88865638). I am on Reynolds. Should I just do a supersession from one part number to another? Or minus out over 2000 qts of the one part number and re add the other part number in?

By the way GM is recognizing 19293000 on the sales loyalty report.

Don't take the 19293000 out of your system in case you do sell it in the future.
Although the quart number I have been receiving and being billed for is 88865635 as they have changed to full synthetic as well.
When they changed to full synthetics a few months back I zeroed out the 19293000 which is what I was getting billed for and added in the 88865639 which is what I get billed for and receive now.
Just make sure you changed the cost to what you are being invoiced for (I am paying $2.43/quart) and if you have the option to not change pricing info from the manufacture price update make sure it is enabled.
