let me share with everyone here a story that happened to me back in the mid 90's....i cut a key for guy for mid 90's monte carlo, the guy came in with the title (titled to him and his wife) and drivers license so i didn't think twice about cutting the key i made copies of the title and license and filed them away....a few days later the local state police showed up at my dealership and quizzed me about it, seems the guy was getting a divorce from his wife and he used the key i cut him to take the car out of her driveway in the middle of the night.....now, i showed the the nice officers the the copy of the title i made from his as well as the copy of his drivers license which made it all legit and i was not charged with anything but, i still ended up going to court to over the whole damned thing to clear my name because her lawyer insisted that i knew the guy and i felt sorry for him and i cut him the key "knowing" what he was planning, so i had to defend myself over it and he (the lawyer) also included the dealership i worked at in this too and they also had to go defend themselves ....so, to make a long story short, i don't trust anyone when it comes to key codes and if you don't have proof then your not getting a key from my department "PERIOD!" that copy i made of the guys title and license basically saved yours truly and that dealership from a bunch of legal problems and possible time being served for it..... it never takes the long arm of the law long to catch up with the bad guys, don't put yourself in any position to get caught in someone else's problem....end of rant
