2017 National Retail Plan Brake Pricing

Noticing a price increase a few months ago in Durastop brake pads, it now appears the $109.95 per axle on cars is a small attempt at addressing the profit loss accompanying this price increase.

Prior management had set these pads at $58.05 for the parts, leaving $41.90 for the labor side.

I do not believe our current(new) Service Director has modified our setups from 2016, YET.

How have many of you determined your Parts/Service pricing in this particular area?

Looking to go to the Service Director and make the changes, but I'm concerned that only the Service side of the increase will be appealing to him. Maybe not?

Was considering $64.95 for the parts side, leaving $45.00 for the labor end. Fair?

We loathe the promotion. We don't stock the durastop. In fact, the local delco distributor doesn't stock most of the applications nor do many of the local dealers. Most of the people that come in from that promotion are LOF customers only and have declined every previous repair. These are the customers we cannot afford to have. When they leave, the have soaked up all the profit we have made, by eating and drinking all the free concessions we have for our customers. In the rare instance that we are stuck doing a 109.99 brake job, we split the difference on the "profit."

I would like to hear what other dealerships are doing as far splitting the profits up between parts and service depts. What labor is being paid at what rate and what are the pads being sold for?

We sell them for $54.95 and service gets the rest. : < )

I got and get $68. Service discount's their labor. Per the owner, it's a service program, to drive business into service. If they can't make a customer come back, that's on Service.

It's never really been properly addressed here as with most of the giveaway programs GM rolls out.

We were originally set up to be at $58.05 for pads and $41.90 for labor to be at the $99.95.
However, after speaking with one of the techs, it became abundantly clear that the service that is offered for $99.95 is to essentially throw a set of pads on the vehicle no matter the condition of rotors. And that almost never happens. There inherently is an extra charge for the rotor cut if necessary or minimal charge to install new rotors, however the total brake job almost never equates to $99.95.

With that being said, it would appear that the National Retail Pricing is not really an honest marketing venture.

Anyways, we had been at $58.05 for oh, IDK, about 4 or 5 years now, and it needed reevaluated. We are now at $64.95 for the Durastop pads, and $45.00 for the labor to be at the new $109.95.
