Package quanity

Postby mharper » Wed Feb 01, 2017 4:12 pm

Subaru is starting to ship parts in multiple pack (or as they call it order pack)
My dealership is using CDK DRIVE XL.
If I have a special order that needs 6 clips, and the min order quantity is 10 clips, CDK will put in the special order for 6 but will not adjust in my regular stock for the other 4.
It causes that to be missed sometimes and throws off inventory.
Is there any way to have CDK automatically add the stock quantity to my stock order.
Have tried to manually enter the stock amount in the PO function, but it puts it in for the max quantity.
Have to go into the RA screen and cancel the excess quantity.

I actually contacted CDK about this exact issue because my shipper/receiver was missing too many things that changed qtys from what we ordered.

The answer from CDK is NO, they don't have a warning system in place at this time for this problem. But there were requests, including mine.

They just told us to pay closer attention as when you are in IRE, there is a column that lists those "pack quantities"

We just need to retrain ourselves to watch for that. Still a work in progress here....

Also, start moving away from PO and start using IRE, it's much, much, much better

Funny, we're on drive and it does add the difference as a separate line! Then the problem is, it is 2 lines on our manufacturer interface website, so they round up those quantities to the next highest and we wind up with even more! In IRE, i look for SOR lines without an SOR # on the right column. If they're blank, I just remove that line since Toyota rounds the line anyway.

LOL - their support told me they "used" to do that but removed it due to that "side effect". So instead of it rounding 1 line up to 10, it would round both lines up to 10 each and you'd wind up with 20

They told me they took that away (or maybe it was only in PO (which I don't use anymore anyway)

What would be nice is if Toyota actually put on the packing list "Quantity increased to minimum purchase" next to any line they adjust. That would solve the issue for us.

We sell a lot of gas doors, and my guys usually order the 2 rivets with them. Toyota changes it to 10 so every time these guys ordered a gas door, we got 8 extra rivets that weren't being receipted. I checked the order in one day and went to go put 8 away and found about 70 more in the bin when we only showed about 6 on hand. Now I've got them pulling the parts we stock instead of just ordering everything together. That cut down on a lot of with just that. Should have been doing that all along - I know :(
