Very frustrating.

Yea, we kinda had a nice thing going here before the General forced the New Car departments to order just about every car or truck with LPO all
weather floor mats. Salesperson sells the vehicle and would walk the customer to the parts counter to sell the mats AT RETAIL.

GM didn't force them. The area sales rep gets paid on LPO. It's @$$ kissing.

That's why I have 48 sets of steps. The rep saw us putting steps on everything that came in, marking parts profit and doubling what service made, and STILL selling at the LPO price and shut that down real fast.

That's good to know, I was not aware of that. Thank you, Richard.

Here is what we did before LPOs. We put step bars on trucks in the lot. 1 out of 3.Couple months later they would sell the trucks to dealer trades or locate company. Then we would take them off and give credit to the stock number(labor was paid by the New Car dept.) Then I would either get another few trucks written up or I would have all these step bars open (tagged and organized of course) waiting for a truck. We did this so a customer would see the Accessory on a vehicle instead of a pic. We sold a lot of step bars that way. I made money . I was frustrated with the open boxes though. The LPO program is the same thing . You are putting step bars on trucks, but now since it is on the GM invoice any dealer trades, locates or that one customer that wants to save 500-750 cant take them off the unit. Since the step bars are on trucks on the lot the customers see them and want them on there bare truck. If you are nice to the sales dept and make the process as easy as them calling the local Accessory shop, you will make more money. Less profit of course, but you win some you lose some
