T4F Headlamp Swap on ATS-V

T4F Headlamp Swap on ATS-V

Postby PartsPlant81 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 5:29 pm

I have a customer inquiring on changing the headlamps on his 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Sedan from the standard headlamps to the hi-intensity lamps.
No accessory lamp kit listed and Partec won't give me any information since it would not be production anymore if it was done.
It would take the lamp option from TUJ to T4F.
Has anybody ever tried it?
If so did you need more than the actual headlamps to make it work?
Thanks in advance for any help.

There will probably be more to it, the ballast would need to be added if they don't come with the headlamps, and most likely a new harness.. I haven't done it and if anyone asks I would try to push it away.. Other way would be having a after market HID setup installed. Some are good most are not... Not much help here but it's something.. :)

I would stay away from that, at least as far as not doing it in your service dept. The reason Partec wont help on this kind of thing is for liability issues. Lighting on vehicles has to meet D.O.T. safety standards and you would be modifying the lights even though you are using OEM parts, there may be other factors involved. If the customer wants to buy the parts and attempt it himself that's his business. Get your money up front, tell him no guarantee it will work correctly and NO returns.

I did this swap on my Dodge Caliber, worked great for about 6 months, then it burned out the forward control module (I did not change it with swap) Little over $1,000 later I put it all back. BIG lesson learned. Don't walk away from this RUN!!!!

X's 10 here! I would tell the customer GM does not recommend switching parts around if something were to happen (fire) it could come back on them. Just to be nice about it to the customer instead of totally blowing them off.
