INFLATOR/SEAT BELT CORES

INFLATOR/SEAT BELT CORES

Anyone have any ideas what to do with the inflator and seat belt retractor core from the GM campaigns? Do we write them up the same way as any other core or is there a special process because of the hazmat issue?

These items do not have cores associated with them. Check your price tapes or your DMS settings might have been modified.
The inflator and airbag recalls all have an instruction sheet in the package as how to return them, in bulk, to Takata.
The recall retractor pre-tensioners, once paid by warranty and your retention period is up, can be "popped" and scrapped.

Wonder if it's different here in California. I have been told not to dispose of them myself.

We've got over 50 airbag/seat belts setting in totes in the back of the Parts Department, any way to get rid of them besides waiting until 200 like Takata says?

You don't need 200. I send them back once a month.

How do you go about this? The paperwork says to wait until you get a pallet of 200

We have been returning them every two weeks. Just call Takata at 1-877-523-9118 and request the paperwork for how many units
that you have. Just tell them that you don't have a pallet and it will take you a long time to get 200. I have never had any issues
doing it this way.

Last time I asked they told me all we had to have was 12 minimum to ship back. We are a Toyota dealer and use Stericycle though.
