Auto/Mate PNC's!

Auto/Mate PNC's!

Postby PartsPlant81 » Mon May 15, 2017 2:56 pm

I'm pretty sure it was part of the last update but has anyone noticed Part Number Changes need to be manually receipted then returned to make your inventory correct and the new part number needs to be receipted in manually!
They had this fixed in an update well over a year ago and now they went backwards.
When a PNC occurred for any # it would update the # in the order screen as it should and everything would be legit from a receipting and inventory stand point; now way too much work to do on a simple issue

I have the same problem with our DMS which is Dominion/Access. Some months after I run the tape update everything works fine
and then the next month part supercessions have to be manually changed. I don't understand why that a DMS system cannot
be consistent.

We use automate. We've always had to manually change the part number WHILE receiving the part. Never had to adjust inventory before. Did one this morning with no issues.

For at least a year when you would update the number in function #4 it would update automatically in the order screen #13.
Now it tells you when you do a PNC in #4 to update the supersession in #13...
So you will have to receipt then return the old part # in function #13 to remove it from the order screen then when the new # arrives it will not be in your order screen #13 so you will have to manually receipt the new # in. Major waste of time for something that used to work well.

Hi PartsPlan81, I'm a software development manager at Auto/Mate. You're right, we used to allow you to do the supersession right from #4 but we found that doing it that way was creating issues with SORs. Although the popup doesn't say it, using #13 will also change the order record and any attached SORs. We are currently working on re-writing some of those programs. Feel free to call our support number if I've misunderstood the problem or you have other questions. Thanks - Sam

Hello thanks for reaching out. I think you should put it back the way it was before you wrote the update that I think caused the new issue.
It happened after you wrote the new software in function #4 when you do a PNC it gives you the 3 options now when you hit F5 on a part number in #4.
If you can get the Part Number to change in the order screen #13 when you do a part number change that would be great. Thank you.

The worst part I was just reminded of checking my morning reports...RIM parts will be ordered twice because it won't show the new part # on order in Auto/Mate. I'm getting 2 $300 modules now as a result and if I don't end up selling both will be stuck with at least one if it doesn't sell in 15 months... :o

Now to make matters worse when you change a # in auto/mate it doesn't automatically adjust the QOH for the new # like it used to. So not only do you have to wait until you actually receipt in the old part # to make the change now you have to adjust old # to zero and new part # to the quantity received. They ruined a good thing. It was perfect back in the day :o
