84211191 Condenser

If our tech pulls out a 23141869 on a 2017 Yukon and it changes to a 84243590 what is the problem? Gm's own global connect shows pnc and no other one beyond that number currently. The epc says 84243590 fits 2015 and 2016 trucks. 84211191 fits 2017 and 2018 per epc. So gm is assembling new trucks with older model a/c condensers. The customer's vehicle is sitting for weeks in the summer because they can't procure a part. They are probably in negotiations with people making these condensers knowing most are going to be replaced. We have been paid warranty for the 2 we have done using 84243590. One was a new truck in inventory they have been trying to sell for a month. The other was a customer that was wanting a buy back. We had his 2017 Yukon for 5 weeks.

Part Ordering Update and Clarification for “Combi-Coolers” – 84243590 and 84211191

Updated Date:Jul 28, 2017 09:40 ET

Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac U. S. Dealers:

We have significantly increased production of part numbers 84243590 and 84211191 and anticipate fulfillment of all combi-cooler backorders and a return to open ordering in the next few weeks.

The GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) has been updated to reflect 84243590 as the specified part for all cab configurations of 2014 – 2016 Light Duty Pickups. 84211191 will retain all SUV applications. This is a change that has been validated for this expanded application and will allow us to expedite a number of backorders currently being held on this extremely important part. As a result of this change, if the VIN associated with an existing order for 84211191 is affected by this usage update, we will be fulfilling that order with 84243590.

As a reminder, orders for combi-cooler 84211191 placed after June 1st are being held in an offline table prior to being processed for shipping. Dealerships can determine order status for these parts by submitting a request via the Supplemental Back-Order Report (GlobalConnect > Parts - Reports and Tools App > Additional Reports and Tools > View Supplemental BackOrder Report).

The existing order backlog for both SPAC/ CSO orders in the system, as well as offline table orders, will continue to be addressed on a first-in, first-out basis as supply becomes available. We will begin shipping orders based upon the new applications outlined above starting the week of July 31st.

To place new orders, dealerships should continue to refer to the GM EPC for confirmation of part number for their specific application, and then place the order as a CSO (Customer Special Order). Until the order backlog has been eliminated, all orders will continue to be on control and reviewed prior to being filled.

Thank you for your patience and support.

And now I really need a drink.......... Yikes

This last update tells us to look back to the catalog for proper application. it turns out I don't need that 84211191 that I had on order for over two months. I need a 20982844... Can this get anymore f@#$ed up?

I have heard all sorts of comments or rumors about these condensers (now called "combi-coolers" ??).
I am curious if we have anything factual available.,.. When will GM go on record with this ??

1. 100% of the OEM condensers will fail. True or false ??

2. GM won't be shipping until...
a.) October
b.) November
c.) December
d.) Some time next year ??

3. Most aftermarket coolers have a problem with the trans cooler quick-connect fitting and shouldn't be used at all. With many transmission failures being reported.

~ gt is just looking to keep the conversation going....

That's because the primary concern and responsibility of General Motors Limited Liability CORPORATION is to provide value to the SHAREHOLDERS. That's all that matters.

Just saw this message from the General this morning via RIM:

And the engineering notes for 23141861 say:
"PART NO 23141861 CONDENSER ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED BY CONDENSER PART NO. 84211191. PLEASE REFER TO PARTS WORKBENCH FOR LATEST PART ORDERING INFORMATION AND AVAILABILITY."

I truly believe these different GM departments never communicate with each other. :?
