Def fluid?

GM guys how are you handling the billing of def. fluid on RO's. The bulletin says they will pay per quart but to use the 19286292 and it will count as 1 quart. I am thinking we need to break it down into quarts using 19286292A. I e-mailed my rep. we shall see what he finds out. He actually responded already and said he believes we should put the A on it to reflect quarts. Makes sense, but that isn't how things usually work. This went into effect 08/01/2017.

It will not be recognized as a GM part and you will get banged for it.

The whole thing is stupid.

We have been purchasing and selling 19286291 and have had no problems with the submissions so far.

We get the 19286292. 2.5 gallon jug and bill out 1 of that number on each Silverado PDI. So far it has been going well. We submitted to claims on 8/2/17 and they paid. :D

Watch your warranty reimbursements! GM pays in quarts (10 MAX). If you bill 1 of 19286292 (2.5 gallons) and the clerk requests reimbursement of qty. 1, GM is only paying for 1 quart (not 1 bottle of 19286292). The clerk has to request reimbursement for qty 10.

Just had our first issue. How ridiculous is it that they want you to use the 2.5 gallon number and charge it out as quarts. Makes no sense.

Re: Def fluid?-RIM reorders out of control

Postby gpr75 » Thu Feb 21, 2019 2:42 pm

I realize that this is an older post, but I'm now having an issue with the RIM reorder of GM #19286292 DEF Fluid 2.5 gal. As per GM PDI rules, we are to break down the 2.5 gal jugs into quarts which is 10 quarts. When we sell these 10 quarts RIM sees it as 10 2.5 gal jugs sold and thus decides to send me pallets of DEF fluid. We are a fairly large volume dealer and we go through a good amount of DEF, but not to the tune of pallet orders. Anyone know what the work around or answer to stop this from happening? I had the part excluded from RIM control, but if I'm correct, it will affect the reorder obviously as well as the RIM protection, etc. Thanks in advance

gpr75, We bill out our DEF fluid by the part-no. and leave the GM cost and Warranty price as is. Our Warranty Clerk breaks it down for us, otherwise it turns out to be a Inventory nightmare. Also GM states that it has a max 2 year shelf life. (see Service Bulletin 16-NA-244) TAC has told us to only use Fresh Def that is less than 6 months.

Thanks porkchop! So, when the warranty clerk breaks it down, it doesn't affect RIM since it isn't billed through the DMS I assume.
