R&R ERA POPUPS

Next time you renew your contract with them, if you want to stay with R&R, have your house counsel draft an addendum that they must honor to keep your business; it would simply say, "no pop ups" and that is the end of the discussion; there are other DMS systems that can do pretty much the same job but without the distraction of pop ups.

Mike, their latest and greatest is called Advanced Service and it's based on Pop-Ups from Techs to Parts, Parts to Advisors, Advisors to Techs, etc. like text messaging but to your desktop like e-mail. Like THAT'S a fast way to communicate~ We don't sit at terminals all day like idealistic programmers waiting for something to happen. It's meant to keep the techs at their bays working instead of waiting in Parts or for an Advisor. Sounds good, but most shops will never be ready for this. Maybe in a perfect world, but not a realistic one.

You know Parts. We are constantly on the move; helping Techs, answering phones, setting up deliveries, pulling parts, running parts/tires to the shop, waiting on retail, and these 'notifications' will get lost in the shuffle, overlooked or put off until someone call in wondering what's going on. Same thing's going to happen in Service. But the process breakdown will somehow always be the Parts department's fault.

Bound to fail but their sales rep will tell you how successful it is, how productive it will make your shop, like they scammed everyone into bundling SPG where less than 10% of the dealers that pay for it actually use it the way it's designed. (Again, designed by programmers that have no clue how a dealership really works, and that most dealerships don't fit into their cookie-cutter template of fantastical simplicity)

The struggle is real, continues, and is only getting worse.

Looks like someone objected to my comments, and deleted my comments, about unwanted R&R Pop ups. What I said was that this can be part of the negotiation at the next renewal of services; it is easy for them to take them out; You, as the customer, should able to buy what you want and eliminate what you don't want.

I created a report that sorts the parts by 3 month sales average, group number (GM), and 6 month sales hist, and 12, and you can always change the value of the group number, I showed this and was immediately reprimanded as this isn't something I should be doing and I shouldn't bother with this.

I have no previous training on how to create reports I just see them as I good way to sort and list parts for ease of use.

Sounds like the one who reprimanded you is jealous he didn't think of himself :)

I would welcome someone showing that initiative

Hi all,

Don't put me on blast I've been using Ignite for roughly two years now. All my parts employee's use Ignite, only one employee besides myself uses ERAccess anymore and I use it less and less these days. I'll admit there's a serious learning curve to it. YES I'm still faster on ERAccess I used it for 20+ years, but I don't have to go to 2024 to search for transactions I can just hit ctrl+T just about anywhere. I don't have to go to 2028 to search for special orders, I can just hit ctrl+S and the list goes on. There are a lot of shortcuts YES, but you'll learn them as I did, you can become efficient on it just takes time. I was told there's no stopping the popups, they're sun setting ERAccess as it's no longer updated. Ignite beats switching to DealerBuilt or DealerTrack.

I'm pretty good with Ignite so if I can help just ask be glad to try and help if I can...

Cheers,
John
