CDK No BINS

CDK No BINS

Postby mharper » Mon Nov 06, 2017 3:40 pm

I have over 4000 parts in a no bin location with a quantity of 0 on hand.
I am trying to figure out how to make that go away for inventory, so I do not have multiple count sheets with 0 on hand no bin location.

Batch change them to SP and when you run the count sheets exclude bin SP.

Batch change them to NS status and then when you run your count sheets run them for "All parts except NS/AP/DP with zero on hand and zero on order."

I agree, batch change the whole lot. Worse case scenario, if you didn't, just record those first pages page numbers as no count and you don't have to keypunch them.

Don't worry about it, kill that tree. Any smart inventory company will ignore no-bin pages. If you exclude anything you run the risk of creating write-ins and extending your scheduled festivities.

I am not at work, so I don't have the exact answer for you. But you DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING special to not count or print the zero on-hands without a bin during physical inventory. There is an option when you create your inventory in INS. It will ignore the vast amount of part numbers with zero OH and no BIN. We do it every year without a problem and it saves an enormous amount of paper and time. The last time I we printed all part numbers at inventory we had over 500 sheets of zero OH - What a mess.

If I think of it I will look at my inventory check sheet tomorrow and post the sort options here. If not contact support - hopefully you will reach an intelligent person- who can tell you how to do it. IT IS SIMPLE and it will still post all the zeros so your reconciliation reports will function properly. You will still have a few pages of zeros, we typically have less than 10.

I guess I do have the information here. What follows is our actual input in INS. Your BIN selection will likely vary but it works for us.

Please note we change the form queue to print these on a laser printer, which is much faster and easier to read than the lineprinter.

* * * IMPORTANT * * *
OPTION "C" WILL START THE PHYSICAL INVENTORY PROCESS!

Do NOT select "C" at the prompt below unless you intend to perform a
physical count on ALL parts on your system THIS MONTH.

To print preliminary count sheets WITHOUT starting physical inventory,
enter "P" below.

OPTIONS
P=Preliminary count sheets (does NOT start physical inventory)
C=Continue with the physical inventory process for ALL parts
?=Display function help
EX=Exit
[P, C, ?, EX]...........................................?C
Starting the physical inventory process

ENTER OPTION
1=ALL PARTS
2=ALL PARTS EXCEPT NS
3=ALL PARTS EXCEPT NS/AP/DP/SP WITH ZERO ON-HAND
4=ALL PARTS EXCEPT NS/AP/DP/SP WITH ZERO ON-HAND AND ZERO ON-ORDER
?=HELP..................................................?4

SORT SEQUENCE
1=NUMERIC
2=SOURCE/NUMERIC
3=BIN/NUMERIC
4=CLASS/NUMERIC
5=CLASS/SOURCE/NUMERIC
6=BIN/CLASS/NUMERIC
7=BIN/SOURCE/NUMERIC....................................?6

PRINT MULTIPLE BINS ON SAME LINE (Y/N/?).................?Y
EXCLUDE CLASS FROM PART NUMBER FIELD (Y/N)..............?N
ENTER LINE SPACING
1=SINGLE SPACING
2=DOUBLE SPACING........................................?2
LINEPRINTER (Y/N) ......................................?Y
GO TO NEW PAGE ON
2=BIN CHANGE
3=CLASS CHANGE
5=BIN AND CLASS CHANGE
7=PRINT CONTINUOUSLY....................................?2

You have selected to start a new page based on bin. You can indicate
which part of the bin location to base the page break on at the
following prompts.
Suggested: Enter 1 (one) at the first prompt, and the length of your
longest bin in at the second prompt.

Do you want to display extended help for these prompts? (y/N).....?N
ENTER STARTING POSITION OF BIN TO COMPARE ON (1 TO 8)....?1
ENTER NUMBER OF POSITIONS TO COMPARE ON..................?3

THE FOLLOWING IS A LIST OF THE CRITERIA FROM WHICH
YOUR INVENTORY COUNT SHEETS WILL BE CREATED. IF
THE LIST IS NOT CORRECT ANSWER 'N' TO THE PROMPT
AND RERUN INS. IF IT IS CORRECT THEN ANSWER 'Y'
TO CONTINUE.
TYPE OF PHYSICAL - COMPLETE
SELECTION OPTION - ALL PARTS EXCEPT NS/AP/DP/SP WITH ZERO ON-HAND
AND WITH ZERO ON-ORDER
SORT OPTION - BIN/CLASS/NUMERIC
PAGING OPTION - BIN CHANGE
BIN COMPARE - 1 FOR A LENGTH OF 3
MULTIPLE BINS - YES
EXCLUDE CLASS - NO
LINE SPACING - DOUBLE SPACING
LINEPRINTER - YES
IS THIS LIST CORRECT (Y/N)...............................?Y
END OF PROMPTS, KEY RETURN WHEN READY....................?
