Service/Parts Communications and ordering

Service/Parts Communications and ordering

Postby Dean@CT » Tue Nov 21, 2017 3:15 pm

What methods is everyone using for techs to request parts quotes and order parts? Communicate with other employees in the dealership?

Our service dept has a parts bay window, however there is quite a bottleneck at times. We are looking for a way for the tech to send a message from they bay to the parts counter, and have the ability to converse back and forth. At the same time having visibility to all in the event another tech jumps in, or the writer needs to verify where we stand on parts pricing/ETA.

Hoping someone has an iOS/Android app based idea, or another system that doesn't require adding on thousands to our overhead.

we use CDK's Service Connect, I would think that other DMS systems run a similar program.

We use Autopoint /MPI Edge
It is great for follow up and can be customized for each user and flag
Best way I have used .....

We started using X-time in February. It's working rather well to keep counter traffic down, and keeping the techs in their bays. Techs can send requests for estimates, and we can quote good-better-best, and they just added tires to the estimating system.

We use a service called Text2Drive. We have found that it is a multipurpose tool for communication. It works great for inter-dealer communications as well as dealer to customer communication. It provides a central platform for all users to be able to converse individually or in groups. The great thing about it is the expense can be shared across departments because, like in our situation, all departments have users on that system. Also, it keeps a record for accountability. These are just a few features, but we really like it a lot here.
