Do you think they could ever come out with a program that the majority of us could say...... not to complicated.... ya I can make that work. that's not to bad for us.... I wish it was this but I can see the benefits... NO they come out with this clusterf$%^. I would hate to be a DMA and try to explain this thing. GM is just trying to tell us it is futile to resist.. you will be asssssimilated

It's so their Reps can come out and sit down with your owner and show how "You're not participating in such and such or need to improve here or your lack of training or investment or whatever blah blah is now costing you thousands of dollars that you were previously entitled to under our last program and it's your Parts and Service Managers that really need to step up and this is up to them."

Boy what a waste of time! I hope I am not the only one, who is more confused now then before that audio presentation of the next great screwing by your friends at GM. All I can say is its time to put together an exit plan.

Love how they kept referring to the slides they were looking at like the link actually worked. And who's FAQ were those? I didn't get the option to input a question. Program is set to roll out on April fools day...seems fitting

My own take on this is that it is an effort to move the EBE/SFE "carrot and stick" approach that GM has always used with the Service department over to the "carrot and stick" approach using what has typically been parts departments discounts. EBE/SFE have always been balanced between Sales and Service accomplishments, with little benefit to the Service department though. I believe that the DMA's will be coming in and recommending that the 40% portion (if attained) be given to the service department, and the parts department share will diminish (this was expected).

I enjoyed reading your comments, comic relief is all we have left - GM took everything else.

I especially liked the GROSS (Getting Rid Of Small Stores) comment. That hit a little close to home because I was so frustrated with the (lack of) presentation I told the dealer this may be the time where we simply say NO we are not participating THE COST IS SIMPLY TOO HIGH. I don't know if we would make enough incentive payout to pay the cost of the software required. Up to this point we have done EVERY program GM has, except ESE - we sat that one out until then of 2017 to see what GM does with EBE. EBE will be announced this Thursday and it already looks like another problem for smaller stores.

Some takeaways from the "meeting" today:

Why did the presenter keep saying EBE - did he mean ESE or did I miss where PASE is tied to EBE?

What is with all the percentages? Started with payouts from 100% - 120% then went to 103% - 107% and so on - WTF?

Cancel the damn meeting - fix the server and reschedule. We moved two lunch hours and other schedules to make the time to attend and then got treated like this.

Right from the start, if I have my numbers right, the goal is to raise fixed coverage from 55% to 78% or thereabout. That is more than a 50% increase in fixed coverage. No single program is going to do that. Especially when it starts by taking away discounts. And then to earn those monies back you have to do all of this and that which will likely cause the dealer to increase expenses by purchasing software he doesn't have.

The reason they want fixed coverage up is to allow dealers to sell vehicles more cheaply - thereby selling more of them to increase market share.

Here's an idea, if you wanted market share why did you (GM) tell share holders a couple years ago that you didn't care how many (few) cars you sold. You (GM) were going to be profitable selling each and everyone of them. Now it seems that 17-18% of the market doesn't look too good. Must be the dealers fault.

Gee if you can make money selling vehicles at 20% off MSRP (remember we (GM) are going to make money on each and every vehicle) why don't you just sell the vehicles cheaper all the time and leave us to our business and our customers. After all, those of us that remain have not filed for bankruptcy yet. Although you (GM) keep at it and I am certain you will drive a few more of us toward that goal.

One more thing. DMA's role will change significantly next year. Our DMA doesn't have the time to do anything. He is so new to the job that given a list of acronyms used in today's presentation he likely could not correctly define half of them.

Maybe I am just getting too old and set in my ways. But NONE of this helps us help the customer. Sure it may help us chase a potential customer, but once we catch them none of this helps us actually help them. And that is what we are losing sight of. Simple stuff - take care of the customer the way you would like to be taken care of and all this other stuff doesn't matter.
