Prepaid Special Orders - ADP

Post by lexusken »

Gerry,

What we do is we charge the part to the RO. Then we use and SOR and in the PO line of the SOR we type c/o and the RO it was charged out on (EX: C/O1234). Then when the customer comes in to have it installed we close the SOR.

Hope This Helps

Lex and Dale,
I appreciate the response, we have a decent workaround in place right now, what it comes down to is that I am tired of workarounds for an issue that ADP has known about for quite some time.

Thanks,
Gerry

Since prepays are such a pain, when we create a non car in shop SOR through PRO, we don't actually order the part. We give the SOR a priority of "P" pending (use your own in UOP). Then, as repair orders are being closed, the cashier goes into SOR and checks to see if that RO has a "P" SOR. If so, the cashier prints the SOR, attaches it to the RO and has the customer sign off on the special order. (How many times have you called a customer to notify them that their parts came in and they have no idea what you are talking about or they live 60 miles away and have no desire to ever come back?) Once the customer signs off, the cashier simply hands the SOR to a counter person, they check availablity, and order accordingly. This gives you a chance also, to verify phone numbers and email address for the customer. By the way, if the customer is missed at the cashier, simply run a daily report of all "P" SOR's and call the customer for authorization.

Darin,
I kind of doubt I can get all the people that would be neccessary to buy into a program like that, but it sure sounds like a good one.
Thanks,
Gerry
