Engine part # sticker for core return

Engine part # sticker for core return

Postby cain555 » Fri Mar 16, 2018 5:06 pm

Wow. I ran into an issue here. A very good customer tossed the box that had the white GM sticker on it with the part# affixed to the cardboard box making what I assume an ineligible core return. Has anyone ever got around this? Can the sticker be ordered separately? I am sure GM wants the core back just as I need the core credit. Anyone know? Or if not, who to contact? I appreciate any help.... thanks

It has been a while, but I have sent back muliple cores without the part number label and rec'd full credit. You might want to print a copy of the parts catalog page that shows the part number and the 3 digit code to substantiate the core. I have also used the IVH on Global-(dis)Connect to pull the original serial number from the component summary page to show that the core serial number matches the VIN and such. Even include a copy of the RO. I have not had one declined yet, but I put the effort into putting all the ducks in a row for them...

I had this issue once, the tech felt stupid about destroying the cardboard box on an engine, but we coped. I just built another box around it, after strapping it to a small skid, slapped the paperwork on it and sent it back, no problem. Good luck!

I have had this happen before myself. What I did was make a phone call to the core center and explained the situation. What the lady told me what to write the part number on the box and make sure the green and white label was on the box. She had said that was all I needed to do. I did as she said, sent it off, and I did get my core credit. Hope this helps you. Call the core center if you want to make double sure.... it was over a year ago when this happened to me.
