GM R1234YF Warranty Reimbursement

GM R1234YF Warranty Reimbursement

Postby brendanw » Wed Jun 27, 2018 6:47 pm

Greetings,

Is anyone else having trouble with reimbursement from GM on claims involving the new R1234YF refrigerant? Is there a change as to what code or number they need off of the printout from our machine that shows the vehicle info (vin, etc)?

Thanks!

No problems here. Refer to 12-01-37-001E...

Warranty Administration Policy Change for R1234yf equipped Vehicles:

•Printed summary of completed repair from the GE-50300 or GE-50300-A is required to be attached to each Repair Order.
•Warranty Code from printed repair summary is required to be entered in the “comment field” of warranty claim (warranty claims without the warranty code in the comment field are subject to debit).
•General Motors will reimburse only the R1234yf refrigerant that is actually used (figured by the difference from recovered and charged amount on the printed ‘Vehicle Data’ summary).
•Refrigerant R1234yf must be billed out in the parts field of the transaction, using a quantity of 1 for every 10 grams used (difference between the amount recovered and charged shown on the printed summary from the GE-50300 or GE-50300-A). Example: 0.600 kg charged - 0.390 kg recovered = 0.210 kg used. This translates to 210 grams. 210 divided by 10 = 21 (the amount to be entered in the part quantity field).

Well, the "transaction code" on the printout from our recovery machine has some strange symbols (%, #, and !), where as the transaction code is normally just letters and numbers. Have you seen that before, and do I dare try running it through the warranty system? It's just a weird combination.

Thanks again

I don't deal with the service side of things, so I have no input as to what the transaction code format should be. In the past the most common cause of rejection on the board was the improper billing of the refrigerant, which is why I posted the bulletin. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

PartScott - I thank you for your help. I actually do not submit the warranty transactions, but I do add the refrigerant as required per the GM document. For whatever reason, the slip that our A/C machine printed out had such a strange number on it, that I figured I would ask.
