Purchase Discounts

Postby chaar » Fri Jul 27, 2018 4:26 pm

Hello all,

I've been doing a lot of reading on these forums, but have never posted anything. I am a new Parts manager at a small dealer here in Canada.
Would just like to gather ideas from all the knowledgeable PM's on here as to how you rack up your purchase discounts. And by that I mean, what kinds of items are you taking advantage of from Gm, or Wholesale Distributors to add directly to your 687. Since I've taken over the role here I'm finding that purchase discounts have been neglected, and the deals have been passed on to the customer. I know that our 687 account adds directly to our Gross Profit, so it doesn't just benefit 1 person.
We are a dealer that averages 150k in sales per month.

I would love to hear your thoughts on how you are building up that account.

Thanks!

PASE discounts go to gross if you are compliant. How do you handle your outside purchases? Anything you buy less than COST can go to 687.

Being a Canadian Dealer, we don't have the PASE Program. But our Rim Compliance and quarterly volume discounts are going to 68700 as they should. Outside purchases are different for us. If I've been given a random discount on the invoice I will take the difference as the discount, but other than that we adjust our cost based on what we were invoiced, or as parts costs fluctuate.
