Parts Profit in Sublet?

Parts Profit in Sublet?

Postby jdpetey » Thu Aug 23, 2018 3:02 am

Mounting and balancing 4 Run Flat Tires at a local tire distributor because our tire machine is too outdated to handle.
Parts Dept will be handling all aspects.
Don't want to charge out mounting tires thru Parts Accounting (Part No. MISC) and get hit with Sales Loyalty penalty, but also don't feel Service Dept should be marking up sublet
on something that they had no part in arranging.

Plan on subletting mounting charges and bumping up minimally, but the bump will go to Service Dept.

We're on CDK and was wondering if we can 'account' the transaction to the Parts side within the sublet screen?

Suggestions?

Thanks

All you have to do is in the MLS screen (F10) enter M as a miscellaneous sale, then enter everything else as needed, but then at the sale account change that to whatever sale account suits your needs (most likely 46700).

Thanks for the info Gerry. Been doing this a long time and always assumed the Sublet function was exclusive to ‘Service’.
I have a little more in depth understanding of the DMS system than our Service Advisors and would like to have diverted the earnings to the Parts Dept. when I know we were the ones who ultimately handled the arrangements.

No disrespect to the Service Dept., but quite often we handle the entire transaction and receive no compensation.

The sad thing is this is how GM is forcing us to do day to day business.

Gerry, Do you know where to find the settings for MLS access.
We can add a sublet but it will not allow a sales account change to be made.

We are looking to set up a key cutting charge that will not be taxed.

I am going to have to apologize here. It's simple, but not as simple as I said. What you need to do is go into ULT and create a labor type that will be entered in the MLS screen. We used to have one that we used for freight on Warranty called WPF (Warranty Pays Freight). In the ULT (Update Labor Type) screen we created the WPF labor type and set it up so that the Sublet sale account was 7706, that way when we changed the Labor Type in the MLS screen it changed the sale account. You can also set the taxability for sublet on that Labor Type there also.
