Timeframe to recieve credits from GM

Timeframe to recieve credits from GM

Postby partsman94 » Wed Oct 04, 2017 9:15 pm

I searched the forum and maybe I missed the answer to my question, but I am trying to find out
if GM has a stated timeframe that credits are issued to the dealer after a return. I would assume
that the time for the credits would be different depending on what type of return is in question.
My assumption would be that RIM returns, Monthly Returns, Core returns, CSO 35% returns, claims
for damage or shortage would all have different times. I searched the P&P manual first, but didn't
see anything there. My dealer wants to see it. I've called and spoke with everyone from my DMA to
the DBC to no avail. Your help would be greatly appreciated as always.

To be honest, whenever they feel like it. Sometimes I have to call the PDC (or whomever) to light the fire underneath. They work on their own time........

There is a timeframe for credits, 60 or 90 days I believe. When that time comes and you have the supporting paperwork they must issue credit, if they tell you that they need to start an investigation tell them to do that on their own time but they need to issue credit because whatever happened after it left your store is their responsibility.

They try to get my credits within 30 days. However if they don't have them at 45 days they love to charge it back to me and say they never received the parts. I just send them all my paperwork and they reluctantly give my credit back for both original return and the charge back. Real good time I must say.

I call after 30 days if I haven't received the credit.

When you do regular returns, i.e. RIM monthly, monthly reserve, etc., if you go in to EPIC, ‘Credit Upon Shipment’ and enter the numerical part of the return application, minus any exceptions, you can receive a credit the next day. The only items you won’t ‘normally’ receive credit the next day are the ship direct returns.

That option isn’t available, I believe, for damaged, CSO or core returns. May work on CSO, but I haven’t tried.

Not sure if you can provide ‘dealer’ with docs the show time frames for return credits. What’s the difference?

Cores tend to lag a bit, but lately I’ve been entering ‘credit upon shipment’ submissions, for monthly returns, before the parts have actually left the premises. As long as the application number is registered on GM’s end, the system will process the credit shortly after you input the ‘Credit Upon Shipment’.

Anyways....

Can you clarify after going into epic then where to after that. I have looked and looked and can't find it.

LOKI, You have to look under "REPORTS AND TOOLS" and click on "ELECTRONIC PARTS INFORMATION (GM EPIC)" and it's under "MR/RETURNS PROCESSING" at the bottom of the page.

does anybody still do this "credit on ship entry"? we do it but it doesn't seem to get us paid any quicker than usual.
