Hazmat Question

Hazmat Question

Postby bluepart » Mon Dec 17, 2018 3:37 pm

Can someone Hazmat Certified at one of our sister stores ship hazardous material for our store or do we have to have a certified person here also ? Seems like I read something about this somewhere, but this is the best place to find out the right answer. Thanks in advance.

Yes and Yes

Someone from another store can ship your hazmat parts.

But you really should be hazmat certified because, as a parts department, you and your employees handle hazmat parts all day. Being hazmat certified is your way of making sure your employees are trained to perform their duties. It also covers your a** as an employer in case of an issue/ accident.

We are involved with KPA for training. I have used hazmatu dot org in the past for training

Your area auto dealer association may also offer a hazmat class. Best idea would be to check with your DP or your office manager.

I took mine through the GCADA (Greater Cleveland Auto Dealer's Association) and it's good for three years. Cost the dealership $35.

HazmatU is a good one, but it was only good for one year when I took their course two years ago. It cost $100 if I remember right.
