Trade for Warranty?

Trade for Warranty?

Looks like GM will lose a little more. Trade for dealers doing any warranty repairs sounds fair to me.

No thanks. I'll stick with cost + 76.74% markup.

I think you missed the point. We get cost + 85 on warranty repairs. I’ m simply saying that when we buy parts from other local dealers, we usually sell to each other at 10 over. Under the current circumstances, I think it’s completely within bounds to tell the selling dealer that the parts we are purchasing are for warranty repairs and GM will reimburse the cost up to trade price. The selling dealer gets a higher markup than regular dealer to dealer sales and the purchasing dealer gets reimbursed the difference. We have always went the extra mile to accommodate customers for warranty repairs and GM has benefitted from the common courtesy between dealers.

I’d rather help my neighbor out than GM at present.

I wish everyone would take the time to exercise this option at this time and squeeze GM as much as possible because they currently treat the dealer like a bunch of booger eating morons and I no longer have much respect for them

We are charging all extra warranty part acquisition expenses to GM. It would be nice to add "handling" charges to them as they take such broad liberties with dealer dollars across the board. By that I mean withholding warranty and core money for nonsensical reasons, implementing ridiculously impossible return reserve percentages, and so on.

This. Use the Z5000 part number on the RO, with description "parts cost", cost and sale price is the same, which is just the markup the other dealer charged us. Warranty part cost and sale price remain as if we had it in stock. Photocopy the other dealer's parts invoice and give it to the service manager to scan in when he/she submits for warranty reimbursement.

Been doing this for years, always been reimbursed by GM.

And to the one who said your other local dealers are charging cost +10, you're lucky, a few of mine have been charging cost +25, even before the strike.

We used to do that, then switched DMS and had to have the warranty admin tack it on. Works either way. Thanks for the reminder!

Not sure you are understanding this post... They are recommending that you sell parts to other dealers at trade price, you make more money and the other dealer can recoup the money from GM as a Z5000 pickup charge. It really is a win/win situation for both dealer.
