R.I.P. - Service Lane Parts, "free" OVN freight

Postby Ichabod Farquar » Thu Jan 23, 2020 5:33 pm

Anyone else realize that all references to SLP parts have been removed from the CDK price tape / file?

Also did anyone notice that the parts catalog no longer references SLP parts?

I assume the program has died and GM just didn't tell us about it - yet.

Keep that customer at the center of everything YOU do - because GM is only about making money for themselves. GM is at the center of everything GM does. If they bump into a customer, who happens to wander into the center with them, I don't think they would know what to do.

Yet in your new RIM proposals it still indicates service lane with a "Y"
Figures GM would try and screw the dealer body by doing away with this program. It was good for us and probably cost GM a shit ton of money

Too bad they can't axe MyPriceStinks™ instead.

I sent my DM a email, asking about SLP. All he did was tell me we are still in recovery mode. Yea, no kidding?

I do believe ‘Second Sweeps’ are also reinstated.

I actually got the email on 9-29.

Reference Number: GCUS-9-10192

Re-introduction of Service Lane Part Functionality Coming October 5th
Beginning October 5th, Dealer placed Customer Special Orders (CSO) of Service Lane Parts (SLP) will again be automatically upgraded to FedEx Standard Overnight Delivery when not available at your Admin Parts Distribution Center (PDC). With the reinstatement of SLP functionality on October 5th, all of the operational changes we put into place as part of our network recovery strategy will have been returned to pre-strike settings.
On September 10th, the service lane indicator was refreshed in RIM, EPIC and Parts Workbench and these systems are now synchronized with the correct information. The monthly price tape for October has also been updated to include the SLP indicator and should be visible in your DMS.
Please be sure you have reviewed your RIM compliance as well as any outstanding RIM proposals on Service Lane Parts to ensure your readiness for the re-introduction of SLP functionality.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and patience as we have worked to recover the health of our distribution network. We still have work to do to reduce backorders and SPAC case volume, but we are focused on resolving backorders as quickly as possible, specifically on the most critical orders. To help us align our resources appropriately, please review your open SPAC cases and cancel any you no longer need.

I have been getting service lane parts since the middle of last month. My DM told me it was coming up and when. He was right on the nose. Now as far as telling, I go on Dealer world and find out if I really need to know.
