I would start at bin 1 or however Ford does it and do pre inventory counts. I would absolutely make changes to quantity on hand now! It's less work and confusion when the day comes. How is it different making changes now or the day of???? The end result is the same.... You are coming up with a number to compair with accounting... Do it now and this way you can not only learn what you have and where it is on your shelves when it comes time to do actuall physical inventory the counts should be spot on. You basically want to go through your shit and do inventory prep yourself then have the shop and parts close down for half a day and bring in as many techs and helpers you can get to go bin by bin and count. This way it also covers your ass cause Its not just you counting. I carry about 105k in stock and did my yearly inventory beginning of this month. Took 4 techs out of the shop and 2 other employees and teamed them up in pairs. Gave quick instructions on how to fill out the count sheets and let them go. Although it took me most of the day to get the final number they were done counting in about a hour and a half. You have to decide on what little things that may be laying around where you have no clue what the last manager did with the stuff... Do you add it in or leave it out and maybe use it in the future at 0 cost? I was lucky when I started I had a idea what my number was from accounting. After all this I just realized this post was from fucking 3 years ago. Some moron spamed here to make it come back to the top.
