GM NEW PACKAGING

Postby CHUCKINPARTS » Thu Aug 20, 2020 5:15 pm

Has anyone seen the new packaging and packing tape coming from GM? I’m not sure what this means when we get boxes returned that are opened by the customer, tech, repair shop, for whatever reason. This seems to make all parts boxes opened are nonreturnable. I know what GM says about any package opened is not returnable but we have all resealed boxes. Any thoughts?????

I've been getting some of this stuff in as well. First time I saw the tape, I figured GM had just figured out a way to screw everybody even more. At least with the old plain tape
you could reseal and make it look presentable to return. This stuff.........not so much!!!

You know how many people want to see whats in the box. Hell..... every body shop tech I ever knew had to to have the parts three days before they needed them just to look at and massage them. This could really be an issue if all their packaging is going to be like this. It's not like you can go to the hardware store and pick up this tape. What will they think of next to DRIVE it home to us..............

They should concentrate on making sure that they package things in boxes made to withstand the weight of the part to start with. Just received a second torque converter in a box meant for a pair of shoes not a bowling ball. Oh wait they put 1 piece of bubble wrap in the box, brilliant work. I sent an email to my DMA telling him I am amazed everyday by the stupidity of some people at GM.

GCUS-9-9179
There was a broadcast, if I remember correctly. There had been a mention of Genuine GM security labeling also. The label with the part number on it began to get really sparkly soon after.

Type: GLOBAL PARTS BRANDING DEALER TRAINING in the search field at the top of home page in Global Connect. The first item on the list has a zip file of the conference from August 11th.

Based on the training and the propaganda PDF in today's email, we need to expand our square footage with an addition. The parts are going to be in very high demand based on the new packaging and the customers will see the new box and just start buying... Wow. Why didn't they think of this back in the 1960s ??

Once again they continue to amaze me. That packaging looks more generic, not very appealing in my opinion. We need a couple more lines to stock, they want us to have them all on hand, but yet how many pad kits and rotors are ship direct. They do not stock them in there huge warehouses, but yet we should. I sent my DMA a list of pads and rotors that are not stocked at our PDC (051) so he could research why that is, I have not heard anything from him yet, imagine that. Gotta love that great GM feeling.
