SPAC Case Resolution Pilot Program With Cunningham Brothers
To provide GM vehicle owners an option to reduce potential wait times for certain non-warranty service parts, we would like to share an exciting new opportunity. The use of pre-owned Original Equipment (OE) parts is a growing segment in the repair industry. Cunningham Brothers is an independent business with years of experience in this area.

To improve SPAC case resolution, GM is performing a pilot program with Cunningham Brothers. Your dealership may be contacted by Cunningham Brothers personnel offering your customer the option of a pre-owned OE part. Of course, your customer remains free to wait for the SPAC or backordered part. If your customer elects to receive the pre-owned OE part, Cunningham Brothers will arrange for terms of payment (which will include the shipping cost). If the vehicle owner chooses this route, the customer should acknowledge, in writing on the bill of sale, that a pre-owned OE was used for the repair. We look forward to this new opportunity to serve our customer in new and creative ways.

Additional information:
1. Participation in this pilot program is voluntary, but in the interest of customer satisfaction, we hope that you provide the customer with this choice. No incentives will be provided as part of this pilot.

2. If the costumer declines the option, no further action is required by your dealership. The SPAC case will remain open, as normal, until the new part arrives.

3. If the customer accepts the option, the SPAC case will not close automatically. Your dealership will need to manually close the SPAC case.

4. Shipping times for parts provided by Cunningham Brothers will vary, but the general goal is to ship the part within 3 days of the customer's acceptance.

5. If you receive the wrong part from Cunningham Brothers, you can contact them at BLAH BLAH BLAH. Please include the following information:
 Ordering dealer name and/or dealer code
 GM part number ordered
 Invoice number
 Reason for return
Returns are allowed for the first 60 days after receipt of the part. If the reason for return is due to Cunningham Brothers, they will pay for the part to be returned and refund the purchase price or provide a replacement part if desired. For all other reasons, the dealer will need to pay the shipping cost, but Cunningham Brothers will reimburse the dealer for the cost of the part.

6. If the customer wants to use the Cunningham part in the interim, but would ultimately like the OE part when it's available through GM, they can choose to do so. However, in that event, the customer would incur all costs associated with the new OE part and would not be refunded for the part purchased from Cunningham Brothers.

7. At this time, the use of pre-owned OE parts will be at a minimum and have little impact on a dealer's PASE metrics.

8. The Cunningham part will come with a 12 month warranty on the part and labor to install the part. Any specific questions regarding the part warranty should be submitted through BLAH BLAH BLAH

If it was April 1st, I would think this was a joke.

But it is an exciting new opportunity!!!!!! FYI salvage yards have been around for a long time. GM must have hired someone that has ties to that yard since they are the only one mentioned. Gotta Love that Great GM Feeling!!!!!!! Just make sure they acknowledge the fact that they are getting a used part. Hard to believe a company the size of GM would have this mentality.

Retired 49 year parts manager, last 46 of it with GM. Years of fighting with service departments wanting to install used parts and these boneheads hand it to them on a silver platter. Those of you still dealing with GM, I bet you won't get a bye on your loyalty percentage. Cunningham Bros. website says " 2016 GM Supplier of The Year ". What the hell were they supplying to GM, used parts for the assembly line ?

Possible Answers:

1 - AFM / DFM Lifters

2 - Suggested oil filter supplier

3 - Management training program

Oh, this list could go on...
